SpacePaper Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SpacePaper ("SpacePaper", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and shares information when you use the SpacePaper app for iPhone and iPad and its related services (the "Service"). If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].

1. Summary

  • You can browse wallpapers without creating an account. Signing in with Apple is optional.
  • We do not show ads, do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, do not access your device's advertising identifier, and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • Video conversion, Live Photo creation and AI Upscale run entirely on your device. The videos you convert are not uploaded to us.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information collected when you use the app, with or without an account

  • Device identifiers. On first launch the app creates random identifiers (a Device ID and a Local ID) and stores them in your device's Keychain. They are not derived from your hardware, your Apple Account or the advertising identifier. The Device ID is sent with every request to our servers. Your wallpaper credits, unlocked wallpapers and Pro status are associated with this Device ID, not with your account. The Device ID may remain on your device after you delete and reinstall the app, and may move to a new device when you restore from a backup. The Local ID stays on the current device only.
  • Wallpaper usage. When you download a wallpaper or set it as your wallpaper, we record which wallpaper and when, associated with your Device ID. We use this to restore your history after reinstalling and to rank wallpapers by popularity.
  • Purchases. When you buy credits or Pro, Apple processes the payment. We receive Apple's signed transaction record (including product, transaction ID and date) and store your credit balance, unlocked wallpapers and Pro status. We never receive your payment card or billing details.
  • Technical information. Our servers receive your IP address, app version, the time of each request and similar technical information needed to deliver the Service, secure it and prevent abuse.

2.2 Information collected when you sign in with Apple

  • Your Apple user identifier, and the email address Apple shares with us (which may be an Apple private relay address if you chose "Hide My Email").
  • Your name, if you choose to share it (Apple provides it only the first time you sign in), and the display name and avatar you set in the app.
  • Your language, region and time zone settings, and the app version you signed in with.

2.3 Content you choose to upload or share

  • Collections. If you add photos or videos to Collections, they are uploaded to and stored on our servers so you can use them across your devices. Your Collections and bookmarks are linked to your account.
  • Share links. If you create a share link for an item in your Collections, anyone who opens the link can see a preview of that item and your display name, and can save a copy to their own Collections. A single-use link works once; a public link works for anyone who has it until you turn sharing off.

2.4 Information you send to us

If you contact us or report a wallpaper, we receive the content of your message and your email address. Messages started from the app may be pre-filled with information that helps us locate your issue, such as the wallpaper ID, app version, device model, iOS version, language and your Device ID. You can review the message before sending it.

2.5 Photo library

With your permission, the app saves wallpapers and Live Photos to your photo library (in the "Space Wall" album). The app only reads the photos and videos you select, and only deletes originals from your library when you explicitly choose to do so after adding them to Collections. Photos are not uploaded unless you add them to Collections.

2.6 Links you import

If you import a video from a link, your device downloads the video directly from that website. That website will receive your request, including your IP address, and handles it under its own privacy policy.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

  • provide the Service, including wallpapers, credits, Pro features, Collections, sharing and bookmarks;
  • deliver and restore purchases and keep your credits and unlocked wallpapers in sync;
  • restore your history after reinstalling the app;
  • understand which wallpapers are popular so we can improve the gallery;
  • keep the Service secure, verify requests and prevent fraud and abuse;
  • respond to your requests and send you important notices, such as changes to this Policy;
  • comply with legal obligations.

Where the law requires a legal basis (for example, under the EU and UK GDPR), we rely on: performance of our contract with you (providing the Service and your purchases); our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention and improving the gallery); your consent (for example, photo library access, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings); and compliance with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We share information only as described below:

  • Service providers. Our servers are hosted by Alibaba Cloud (mainland China) and BandwagonHost (outside mainland China), and content is delivered through Cloudflare. These providers process data on our behalf to run the Service.
  • Apple. Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchases are provided by Apple and are subject to Apple's privacy policy.
  • People you share with. When you create a share link, recipients see the information described in Section 2.3.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or SpacePaper.
  • Business transfers. If SpacePaper is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

5. How Long We Keep Information

  • Account data. When you delete your account, it enters a 15-day restoration period. If you do not sign in again within that period, your account, Collections, bookmarks and share links are permanently deleted, and we revoke the app's Sign in with Apple authorization.
  • Device data. Credits, unlocked wallpapers, Pro status and history are associated with your Device ID and are kept so you can continue to use what you purchased, including after reinstalling the app. They are not deleted when you delete your account. You can ask us to delete them as described in Section 6.
  • Messages. We keep support messages for as long as needed to handle your request.
  • Technical logs. We keep server logs for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

We may keep certain information longer when the law requires it, for example purchase records needed for tax or accounting.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent.

  • Delete your account: in the app, open your account and choose Delete Account.
  • Correct your profile: you can change your display name in the app.
  • Delete information linked to your Device ID (such as history, credits and unlocked wallpapers): use Contact Us in Settings. The message includes your Device ID so we can locate your data. Please note that deleting this information also deletes your credits and unlocked wallpapers, and this cannot be undone.
  • Photo library access: change it at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Other requests: email [email protected]. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and may need to verify your request.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Security

We protect your information with measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) with certificate pinning, signed requests, and storage of identifiers and sign-in tokens in the iOS Keychain. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you have signed in and we have your email address) and by updating the effective date above. Please review this Policy periodically.
